Tattoo Phone Apps

Taking the Tattoo History in your pocket

In this digital world that we live in, there is no denying that a lot of us are a lot more addicted to our phones than we should be. Bad news ink lovers, now there's more stuff for you to check out on your smart phones. Some apps are free and some you have to pay for so buy at your own risk. If you're tight on cash, I suggest you save the money for a good piece of ink instead.

There are some "artist portfolio" apps, some tattoo generators (I wouldn't suggest that you get a tattoo based on artificial intelligence artistry) and a whole bunch of other stuff out there for both the Android and the Iphone.

Horiyoshi III

Japanese Tattoo master and icon, Horiyoshi III has released an app best described as a visual compendium of his works. It also has a collection of his photos and drawings.  For about $5 (USD), it seems reasonable.  Check it out here.

Horiyoshi III's out of print "100 Demons" book is also available as an App. it's 160 pages of no nonsense Horiyoshi Art. This book is one of the must have reference books for anyone interested in Japanese Style tattoos. This is selling in the "Books" section of the Itunes store for  USD$9.99. It might seem pricey for an app but for this, legendary, out of publication book, it's very reasonable.  Get it here.

Sailor Jerry
Sailor Jerry App, FREE for the Iphone and the Ipad. This app is fun and allows you to take pictures and seeing how a traditional SJ app could look on your arm, leg, etc... tacky but still, good fun! click here to download.

Ed Hardy

Is there an Ed Hardy App? Is the world round? Of course there's one. For USD $2.99 you can get The Ed Hardy Tattoo Artist app on your Ipad or Iphone. With it you can create your own Ed Hardy designs, customising them over pictures that you've taken. You can also create, fonts, get wallpapers, create e cards. Fun stuff. Click here to download.
